The Alumni Services Coordinator supports the alumni community, and the department and university’s mission and goals.  The Coordinator oversees alumni outreach efforts, engagement activities and assists with online or in-person events including graduation ceremonies.  Duties also include, but are not limited to, a variety of administrative responsibilities, managing alumni communications, maintaining alumni databases and other department content; and performing other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Program Management.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with department leaders on executing the department vision and strategy

  • Assists in evolving new alumni programs and supports coordination of those programs through administrative efforts, outreach and relationship building

  • Builds and maintains relationships with alumni through daily interactions over the phone and via email communication to learn about their educational experience and post-graduation success in an effort to optimize alumni relations

  • Executes the Alumni Association social media strategy to increase alumni engagement while also managing social content

  • Consistently evaluates the alumni communication strategy; creates and manages the internal and external alumni communication

  • Oversees the Virtual Graduation process

  • Manages and implements projects that support the planning and preparation of local ground graduations in which online students participate

  • Updates, organizes and maintains alumni databases

  • Creates reports to track alumni engagement, outcomes and event participation

  • Travel 1-3 times a year to support university alumni events

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication (oral, written, and listening) skills; comfort level in conducting outreach to alumni and learning about their successes

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple large projects at once

  • A passion for helping alumni grow, develop themselves, and better their lives and their community

  • Ability to motivate alumni to actively participate and engage in Alumni Association offerings

  • Creative and solution-minded

 

Education and Experience:  Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or international equivalent)

  • Three years supporting alumni relations and/ or student services in higher education

 

Education and Experience:  Preferred

  • At least two years of event coordination experience
