The Senior Development Specialist holds primary responsibility for the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of training content for faculty within CTU Academics, effective evaluation of faculty needs, connecting communication with faculty around CTU initiatives and strategies; including, but not limited to, new faculty orientation and onboarding, instructional strategies, and University-level initiatives. Responsible for supporting education technology initiatives to ensure alignment with academic policy relative to usage statistics and best practices for students and faculty; including testing, configuration recommendations, and training. Additionally, the Senior Development Specialist should provide thought leadership and guidance to the business regarding training and development best practices, instructional design principles, adult learning theory, leadership practices, performance improvement, change management, and communication.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Assess and evaluate faculty needs against suite of offerings
Engage in programs evaluations to ensure relevance toward CTU initiatives and faculty opportunities
Design, deliver, and evaluate overall training and development programs, workshop sessions, and learner materials for faculty
Maintain knowledge of education technologies including functionality, improvements, and consultation on best practices relative to CTU’s pedagogical model
Conduct full analysis of and provide recommendations relative to education technologies to ensure efficient student and faculty use
Conduct classroom functional analyses to determine efficiencies and make recommendations regarding instructional support
Design and deliver ongoing communication plan with faculty and key stakeholders
Assist in maintaining compliance of training programs and courses with standards of CTU’s accrediting bodies
Manage process for and fully support new faculty during onboarding process
Develop and maintain consistency of university-wide and student resources where applicable
Facilitate faculty learning events in multiple modalities; including synchronous classroom and web-based instruction, asynchronous learning modules, and social media
Initiate and lead medium to large sized projects and programs for the Teaching & Learning Team
Coordinate and facilitate cross-functional/cross-departmental teams throughout the University to develop and deliver faculty and academic learning events that will ensure consistent application of University policies and departmental processes
Assist director in establishing overall strategic direction of department and in selecting appropriate tools and services to support the training needs of faculty community
Maintain and frequently update suite of training materials
Manage end to end projects including determining processes, tracking, and faculty updates

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Competencies
Excellent communication and public speaking skills
Training and facilitation skills
Excellent project management and time management skills; must be well-organized and able to manage multiple complex projects
High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, and Adobe Connect
Familiarity with Campus Vue, the Virtual Campus, and the MyCampus portals
High degree of proficiency with Captivate, Storyline, Camtasia, and other instructional design software platforms
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
Ability to meet objectives as an Individual Contributor as well as actively engage as a contributing member of a high-functioning team to meet organizational goals
Highly-developed understanding of fundamental business concepts
Excellent ability to translate strategy into actionable items and to link activity to business results
Familiarity with common LMS platforms
Education and Experience: Minimum
Bachelor’s Degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or international equivalent) required
5 years’ experience of teaching at the college post- secondary level, preferably in online and/or blended
Knowledge of the principles, techniques and methods of instruction; use of visual aids, learning processes
Fundamental understanding of departmental policies and processes within the University.
Experience in effective communication with faculty and other key stakeholders within the university
High degree of professionalism and experience
Education and Experience: Preferred
Master’s degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or international equivalent) preferred. (Background in education, instructional design or instructional technology strongly preferred.)
Proven success and experience in training development and training delivery/facilitation/public speaking preferred
Knowledge of instructional design software
